How do industry-standard data models relate to a common data model?

Industry-standard data models, such as ISO 20022 for payments, FHIR for health and GS1 for products, describe data for a specific domain and exchange. They work best as outputs derived from your own common data model, not as a replacement for it.

Why not adopt a standard as the model?

Standards are written for exchange between organisations. Your internal systems usually hold more, and slightly different, information than any one standard covers. Using a standard as your only model can force awkward mappings or lose detail the business relies on.

    How do they fit together?

Agree your own common data model first, then map from it to whichever standards your partners or regulators need. The common model stays the shared internal definition; each standard is a specific view of it.

If you need output in a particular standard, tell us when you request a demo and we will confirm what the current release supports.
